California (CFCC)

CFCC’s Orange County Event Series continued when the Chapter hosted a networking event on March 24 at the Anaheim Hilton in Anaheim, CA. One lucky attendee at the event won two first-row tickets to the March 29th Anaheim Ducks game.

Houston The Chapter held a well-attended networking event on March 5 at Champps Americana in Houston, TX. The next chapter meeting will be held on May 14.

Carolinas

On April 7 the Chapter held a lunch meeting in Southpark. Kevin Durkin of the Durkin Group spoke to attendees about fraud issues.

MidSouth

On March 12 the Chapter held a joint networking event with the TMA at the Wachovia Tower in Birmingham, AL.

Atlanta

The Chapter held its March event on March 5 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Buckhead. Dr. John C. Robertson, vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, spoke to the Chapter about his role as the team leader for the economic research group at the Atlanta Fed, and as one of the Bank’s senior monetary policy advisers. Another hot topic discussed was the current economic climate.

Florida

The Chapter co-hosted the opening reception at CFA’s Spring Connections Conference, which took place March 11–13, 2009 at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Midwest

The Chapter held an education event at the Union League Club in Chicago on March 11 with speaker Lynn Brewer, founder of The Integrity Institute. As a former Enron executive and whistle-blower, Brewer spoke about a wide variety of topics including her work with Enron and the energy markets as well as her knowledge of the global economy. She provided insights into the Enron Loophole and the risks associated with regulatory loopholes.

New England

The annual March Madness Event took place on March 19 at The Place in Boston, MA. Those who attended enjoyed a night of networking and basketball as they watched the game on The Place’s big screen TVs.
