Michael Haddad founded CORE Business Credit in August 2007 and serves
as its president and chief executive
officer. Haddad has more than 30 years
of leadership experience in the financial services and banking industry. He

Previously, Haddad had co-founded
Marquette Business Credit in early
2004 where he served as executive vice
president. At Marquette he built a va-
riety of product capabilities and total
committed credit facilities exceeded
$200 million in the first 16 months of
operations. Prior to Marquette, Had-
dad was president and chief executive
officer of Guaranty Business Credit
Corporation and its predecessor com-
pany, Fidelity Funding Financial Group.
Haddad received his B. A. in politi-
cal science and accounting, and his
M.B.A. from St. John’s University. He
also serves on the board of directors
of several organizations including
the Commercial Finance Associa-
tion, where he is also a member of its
Executive Committee, Rural Michigan
Intermediary Relending Program, The
Catholic Foundation and Jesuit College
Preparatory School. He is also active in
many charitable organizations.
Michael J. Maiorino, Jr.
Vice President
Michael Maiorino is executive vice
president and director of C&I Risk
Management & Recoveries at Sov-
ereign/Santander. Maiorino was
formerly president of Sovereign Busi-
ness Capital (a division of Sovereign/
Santander) which included asset-
based lending, commercial finance,
franchise finance, and small-cap
mortgage warehouse lending. Prior to
joining Sovereign, Maiorino was presi-
dent of the Business Finance Division
of Fleet Capital Corp., currently Bank
of America Business Capital. He has
been involved in all aspects of asset-
based lending over a span of 30 years
in banking. During one five-year seg-
ment of his career, he worked closely
on strategy and policy issues for the
president and head of commercial
banking of United Jersey Bank (Sum-
mit Bank) and instituted a variety of
cutting edge changes for that organiza-
tion. Maiorino serves on CFA’s Execu-
tive Committee. He has been asked to
address a variety of different trade and
industry associations over the years and
has written numerous articles and been
featured in many other articles covering
topics ranging from all aspects of com-
mercial banking, asset-based financing,
workouts, and economics. Maiorino
resides at the Jersey Shore where he is
an avid boater, golfer and skier.
Jonathan N. Helfat
Co-General Counsel
Jonathan Helfat is a partner with Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen
P.C. He specializes in the representation of commercial finance companies,
banks, factors and other financial institutions in the restructuring of their
secured loan transactions. He has also
represented financial institutions
and creditor companies in Chapter 11
and Chapter 7 cases. Helfat is a Fellow
and Regent of the American College
of Commercial Finance Lawyers and
previously was a member of the Merit
Selection Panel for the United States
District Court, Eastern District of
New York Bankruptcy Judges. He is a
member of the Commercial Finance
Association Education Foundation
Founders Leadership Council and in
the past has served as its Campaign
Chairperson. Helfat received his law
degree from the University of Louisville School of Law after graduating
from American University and a Master of Laws (Corporation Law) from
New York University. He is admitted to
practice law in New York State and in
various federal courts.
