Robert Fentress is a graduate of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
holding both a BA awarded in 1977 and an
MBA awarded in 1979. He began his career
at the 1st National Bank of Atlanta through
their Management Training Program, serv-
ing roles in the credit department and as
a business lender. Since 1985, Fentress has
been with BB&T, first spending a number
of years in business loan administration.
While there, he served in various capaci-
ties, ultimately as senior loan administrator
with responsibility for approval of credit, de-
velopment of loan policy, and responsibility
for the commercial loan portfolio profitabil-
ity, growth, and quality. Since 2008, Fentress
has been president of BB&T Commercial
Finance, an area which includes respon-
sibility for asset-based lending, domestic
and international factoring, supply chain
finance, equipment finance, governmental
finance, mortgage warehouse lending and
Lendmark Financial Services.

Having joined IBM Global Financing (IGF) in
1997, Steve Nichols has over 10 years in the
commercial financing business, holding
both sales leadership and senior risk management positions. While most of this time
has been focused within North America, he
also spent two years in Latin America, and
has consulted on the IGF commercial businesses in Europe and Asia Pacific.
In his current role as the business
unit executive for IGF commercial
financing in North America, Nichols has
responsibility for both the top and bottom line business performance, as well
as for leading a cross-functional team in
the management of new business development and IGF’s existing portfolio.
Prior to joining IGF, Nichols had
experience with a Fortune 1000 chemical
manufacturer in corporate development
and mergers and acquisitions. He has a
B.S. in economics from Texas A&M University and a M.B.A. in finance/account-ing from the University of Connecticut.
