Houston, TX, Austin, TX, Phoenix, AZ and
Dallas, TX. Prior to Gulf Coast, Frederic was
a senior vice president at KBK Financial, a turnaround specialist with his
own firm, and CEO of First Bank and
Trust, New Orleans.
Frederic’s 35-year commercial finance and banking career also included managing a regional office for a
subsidiary of Bank Paribas, chief credit
officer with a major New Orleans bank,
six years with Interfirst Bank Texas
(currently Bank of America), where he
managed Louisiana operations, and
nine years at First National Bank of
Commerce, New Orleans. Frederic has
an MBA from Louisiana State University and served as a captain in the
United State Army.
He is a director of the CFA, past adviso-
ry director of the IFA, an instructor for the
CFA and IFA, and also a past instructor at
the LSU School of Banking of the South.
Frederic is on several civic and charitable
boards including Canal Street Develop-
ment Corporation of New Orleans.
Stephen P. Johnson
Stephen P. Johnson is president of
J D Factors, which he co-founded in
2000. With 10 offices in the U.S. and
Canada, J D factors provides factoring
of accounts receivable for small- and
medium-size businesses throughout
North America. Prior to starting J D
Factors, he was with another factoring
company and various banks for about
25 years. Johnson graduated from the
University of Redlands, with a B.S. in
mathematics. He has been a CFA director since 2000.
Barry J. Essig
Barry J. Essig serves as vice chairman of
Crestmark Bank. Prior to being acquired
by Crestmark he was president, chief
executive officer, and director of Spectrum
Financial Corporation, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Wachovia Bank. From 1989 to
1994, he served as senior vice president and
manager in New York of Barclays Commercial Corporation, the factoring subsidiary
of Barclays Bank. From 1970 to 1989, he was
director, executive vice president and chief
operating officer of National Westminster
Bank’s factoring operation in the United
States. Before that time, he held account
executive and credit managerial positions
at Bankers Trust Factors and CIT. He has
been active in the Commercial Finance Association and is presently a director, chairperson of the Factoring Committee, past
